They are comfortable too!
They reminded me of the ones that my Grandma had.
Am I really writing a blog?
How did that happen...well I guess it all started approximately 50 years ago. I was a devilish four-year old. My Mom had brought me along while she was collecting for the Cancer Association (in those days, stay at home Moms were often recruited to collect for various charities). At one nicely appointed 60's style home, a little girl my age came down the hall carrying a kitten. The girl looked like she was out of a Victorian portrait with dark brown eyes and long flowing hair complete with a pink ribbon. She was a stark contrast to my short pixie haircut and missing tooth grin.
I was charmed by both the girl and her cat Henry.
We became fast friends from that point on with adventures and many misadventures over the years. We grew up, grew apart and came back together again in recent years.
Like we sang in Campfire Girls -- old friends really are gold.
As teens, we used to love old trunks, quilts and pendelton jackets. Jenna used to lend me her favorite leather jacket complete with major fringe. Jenna has always had the best eye for great quirky things. She loves to re-purpose and give new life to old objects. While helping decorate my Son's dorm room she found, in an old barn, a 50's era lime green plaster harlequin lamp. It was perfect!
I love the history and the hunt and the memories conjured up by different objects.
We have, for years, daydreamed about driving across the US with a U-haul, searching for treasures from our childhood and beyond. We aren't there yet, but this is our start. And so far we are having the best time we have had in years.
And I am writing a blog!
